PRAYER AND WORSHIP
On May 23rd 2007 Bolsover Methodist church played host to the Derbyshire prayer walk. The prayer walkers attended a prayer and worship service, along with Councillor Walker, Chairman of Bolsover District Council, Rev Hicks, members of St Mary and St Laurence Church, Bolsover and members of Bolsover Methodist Church. The worship was lead brilliantly by David Buckley whose choice of music was very appropriate and significant to the mood of the service.

During the service we prayed for Derbyshire, its towns and people, for Bolsover and the need to unify our churches. Councillor Walker explained how prayer was needed for the council, the work the council was doing in trying to cut vandalism and crime while still working with outside agencies to obtain funds for continuing regeneration. Need was also expressed for the young people of the town and for the continuing changes that were taking place at Bolsover Hospital. We prayed specifically for the council and the leaders of the churches in Bolsover before splitting into smaller groups to pray for the needs of Bolsover and its surrounding villages.

It was a moving service and I personally found it very meaningful and rewarding. I have never felt comfortable sitting in a large group and feeling I should pray out loud but with songs interspersing the prayers, the splitting into groups and the time for personal prayer meant I left the service full of Gods Spirit with renewed hope for our town, and a great feeling of personal peace. I only hope we don’t have to wait for next years prayer walk before we hold another prayer and worship service.

MARK’S RICKSHAW TOUR
In June, I will be apart of an Interserve Team driving an Indian rickshaw from Iona (north-west Scotland) down to St Augustine's Point (south-east England) - two entry points that saw Christianity coming to the UK. During the tour, called Miles for the Marginalised, the team will be stopping off at churches to highlight the issues of the marginalised in India and Bangladesh.  The objectives are to raise prayer for the Marginalised in these countries and also raise money for two projects.  The first is portable ultrasound machine for Lamb Hospital in Bangladesh. The second is a night shelter for Street children in Mumbai, at the moment 100,000 children sleep on the streets of this city each night.

So how can you be involved, there are three ways you can be involved.  The first is sponsorship, I am looking for people to sponsor me as I take part in this journey.  The second is raise money yourself, we are looking for people to walk, hop, and run a mile to help raise even more money.  The third way is by coming to the event, on Monday 18th of June at 7.30pm where the Interserve team will be at Hill Top.  We will be having a praise service and hearing for the team.  So please come along and help change peoples lives.

WORSHIP THROUGH MOVEMENT
Our annual trip to Spring Harvest in Skegness usually brings vision and encouragement to several members of the group, but rarely two with exactly the same vision!  However this year that is exactly what happened.

The dancers who provide inspiration in the Big Top evening services were leading a series of sessions on using movement to worship God, interpret scripture and minister to others.  Both Pam Cutts and I decided to attend these sessions, and were hugely blessed by the practical teaching and freedom to express our worship to God through movement.

We both felt that God wanted us to extend this blessing to our Church, so together we have created Worship Through Movement, a weekly group open to all ages and abilities in an attempt to share what we have learnt from Spring Harvest, and encourage others to explore a new way of worshipping God.

Worship Through Movement is not a choreographed dance group, nor is it a means to public performance on a Sunday Morning, rather it is a place of freedom to bless God and minister to each other through His gift of movement.

We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm in the Sykes room at Bolsover Methodist Church, please feel free to join us!

SARAH AT SPRING HARVEST
On the 31st of March 2007 I went to a place called Butlins, only Butlins itself was shut off and it was replaced with Christian activities for a week. They call it Spring Harvest. Christians come from all over the UK to experience God.

Each day we have to learn part of a memory verse and every day we add a line to it.

On the second day our verse was We are one people and we belong to God.

On the Third day we added the line, We are a holy people. On the fourth day the line we added was We are a catholic people. On the fifth day are verse became,

We are one people,
We are a holy people,
We are a catholic people,
We are an apostolic people,
And we belong to God
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
Forever & ever
Amen

In the mornings I go to the omega zone lead by Dave Godfrey. We do one writing activity, one sport activity and one creative activity. Each activity lasts for about 40 minutes, snack time lasts 15 minutes and we do 45 minutes bouncing around. Dave Godfrey writes all the songs we sing. His CDs include On the shoulders of Giants, Brave and Daring, Heavens Number .1, Dependence day, Holy Washing Machine and Zoom.

In the evening we go to all age worship. At all age worship we sing, dance, use flags & Ribbons and we watch a Sketch written by John Hardwick and his team.

All age worship enables families to worship together.

After all age worship I go back to the omega zone.  We watch part of a play there and we also do more singing and dancing. The play we watch is about a dancing competition and two competitors (Disco Dave & Grandpa Joe).  I really enjoyed Spring Harvest this year and want to go back right now.
