Smiles Foundation Mission Trip – Opening of Tileagd Community Centre

About 2 years ago Kevin Laming came to preach at Bolsover and brought Maureen from Brimington to talk about the Smiles charity and her recent mission trip to Romania. This was revelation in itself as our fellowship group had been praying that week for God to show us an international project/organisation we could support. Following that service our group has been awakened to the work of the Smiles Foundation and have supporting it for about a year.

For those of you who don’t know, smiles is a charity who work in Tileagd Romania, providing housing, schools, medical facilities to a Gypsy Community who have absolutely nothing.

So why am I writing about this now? Well, following a number of challenges by God, Lucy and I are going to embark on our own mission trip to Romania in June. The trip will witness the opening of a church and community centre and we will spend a week with the community we have been supporting. In the next few months we will be doing a number of things to raise both money and awareness and I thought you all might like to know about it.

On Saturday April 26th there will be an event at Bolsover entitled
MISSION AND WORSHIP. This will be some food at 5pm followed by an evening of music, fun, worship, fundraising and information download regarding the work that Smiles are doing. Everyone is welcome from the whole circuit. Tickets are £5.

I’m also selling some CD’s of an album called “Released 6” which is a compilation of a number of unsigned artists. My song “The Call” is on the CD. The CD’s are £10, every penny of which goes to Smiles Foundation.

PRAYER FOR THE CIRCUIT

The Bolsover Methodist Prayer Group meets weekly to pray for our churches and community.  We believe that prayer is essential for growth.  In the New Year the group would like to focus upon the individual churches in the circuit and their needs.  Each church will be given their own week.  The group would like to extend an invitation to the churches to join them during their week.  Please look out for the letter addressed to your church.  The dates are as follows: Staveley – 9th April

The group meets at Bolsover Methodist Church in the Sykes Room, 8:00pm till 8:30pm.  For more details contact Pam Cutts 824649 or Sue Wilson 476545.

HEALING SERVICES

Bolsover hosts the Healing Place on  Tuesday 8th April starting at 7:30pm.

Brimington has a Praise and Healing Service on Sunday 18th May starting at 7:30pm.

PREACHING OFFER

Gerald and Rita Sawyer have offered if they are able to fulfil some of the own arrangements shown on the Plan.  If as a church, you have made no arrangements for these services then please contact them.

Piano free to a good home

We have a piano, which is looking for a good home.  It was bought, for our youngest son, from Mastin Moor Church when it closed.  At that time, it was virtually restrung and tuned, but less than six months later he stopped playing.  This means the piano has not been played for about four years (so will probably need retuning).  If anyone can use, or knows someone that can use, the piano it is available to them free of charge.  Please contact John Hawkins 01246 811525 on a first come first served basis.

CANDIDATING

Thank you for your continuing prayers and support.  All went well at my District interview and I have a date for my Connexional Committee which is over the two days of Tuesday and Wednesday 22nd and 23rd April.
